  • Museum survey exhibition of paintings by Walter Robinson spanning 1979–2014, presented as the inaugural exhibition at University Galleries’ Uptown Station space in Normal, Illinois. The exhibition brought together works ranging from the artist’s early pulp-romance appropriations to still lifes, consumer products, fashion imagery and internet-sourced subjects examining desire, media and consumer culture through painting.

Walter Robinson is an American artist, writer and critic associated with the Pictures Generation and the New York art scene of the 1980s. His painting practice draws from mass media, advertising and popular culture to explore the relationship between representation, commerce and desire through figurative and appropriation-based imagery.
